Bulls to Host UB Diving Invite & Tri-Meet This Weekend

BUFFALO, N.Y. – The University at Buffalo swimming and diving team returns to the Alumni Arena Natatorium this weekend, hosting the UB Diving Invitational, and a tri-meet against Duquesne and Marshall.
IN THE POOL
The tri-meet against the Herd and the Dukes begins on Friday night at 6pm, with action continuing in the pool on Saturday morning at 10:30am. The teams will compete head-to-head with each other, with the results of the meet counting as official wins and losses on the season.
The Bulls return to Buffalo after two road meets, a head-to-head loss against Miami of Ohio, followed by a seventh-place finish at the Princeton Invitational, with a strong team performance against competition from across the nation.
Duquesne enters the weekend with a head-to-head record of 2-2, opening the season with losses to George Mason and Davidson, followed by two wins over La Salle and George Mason. The Dukes also competed in West Virginia's Fall Frenzy, where the program placed seventh of 10 teams.
Marshall is 0-1 on the season in head-to-head meets, dropping their lone matchup against James Madison, 167.5-132.5. The season did start on a strong note for the Herd through, who took first place at the West Virginia Games, with a score of 1,340.5. Marshall's most recent action was at the Purdue Invitational, where the Herd placed fifth of eight teams, ending the weekend with 306 points.
THE DIVING WELL
On Friday at 11am, the UB Diving Invitational begins with 3-meter diving, where the Bulls will host Akron, Bowling Green, Duquesne, Eastern Michigan, Marshall, Ohio, and St. Bonaventure. The diving invitational will continue Saturday morning at 11am, with the programs competing in 1-meter and team diving. On Sunday morning at 10am the invitational will be closed out with platform diving.
The Bulls are coming off a strong performance at the Princeton Invitational in the diving well. In 3-meter diving, Victoria Franz (2nd, 334.60) and Marialis Kwak (3rd, 313.95) earned podium finishes, with Kaylee Donovan (6th, 281.95) and Sophie Meuwissen (8th, 248.15) also placing inside the top ten. Buffalo was the only program in the event to have more than two finishers inside the top ten. The Bulls continued their momentum the following day in 1-meter diving, having four of the top ten finishers in the finals. Franz placed second in the finals (288.90), with Kwak finishing fourth (266.35), Presley Dorsett taking fifth (260.70) and Meuwissen placing eighth.
