Bulls Compete at Geneseo Early Season Invite

GENESEO, N.Y. - The University at Buffalo men's and women's track and field teams sent a small squad to compete at the Geneseo Early Season Invite hosted by SUNY Geneseo on Sunday and Monday.
On Sunday, the men took 4 of the top 7 places in the 1500-meters, with freshman Noah Brightman finishing second in a personal best time of 3:56.33. Cory Demo followed in third in 3:57.06, just .03 seconds off his personal best. Will Marchant (5th, 3:57.82) and Gabe Watson (7th, 3:59.65) also ran personal bests. Fernando Sanchez placed 3rd of 70 competitors in the men's 800-meters in 1:55.81.
In the women's 1500-meters, six Bulls recorded personal bests. Vassi Klock finished 2nd in 4:40.26, and Allison Newton placed 8th in 4:54.23.
In the javelin, Mike Wolford placed 3rd in 48.92-meters/160'6", and in the men's discus throw Quinn Smith placed 2nd overall in 48.76-meters/160'0",
Teasha McKoy won the women's discus throw with a personal best mark of 47.61-meters/157'3", winning by over 20'. The mark is the 3rd best in the MAC.
On Monday, the lone track competitor for the Bulls was senior Lydia Lanski, who won the Women's 100-meter hurdles. She won her heat in the preliminary round in 14.98 and finished first in the finals with a time of 15.38.
Teasha McKoy won her 2nd event of the meet, taking the women's shot put title in 13.99-meters/45'10.75", winning by over 2'. Teammate Imahni Sinclair won the women's hammer throw by over 13' with her mark of 51.37-meters/168'6".
The Bulls continued their dominance in the field events with a 1-2 finish in the men's shot put. Jonathan Surdej had a season's best mark of 17.19-meters/56'4.75", 1st in the MAC.
Surdej was followed by Mark Przybocki with an outdoor personal best of 16.26-meters/53'4.25", 3rd best in the conference.
