BUFFALO, NY – The University at Buffalo men's tennis team dominated, winning every match in straight sets, in a 7-0 win over Quinnipiac at Miller Tennis Center on Sunday afternoon to close out non-conference play.
Buffalo won the doubles point to start the day as Cheng Tang and Yu-Shiang Huang won 6-0 at third doubles and Aleksandr Kalinin and Daniils Snaiders won 6-4 at second.
Singles action continued with straight set wins for UB in all six matches. Kalinin won 6-2, 6-2 at first singles, while Simon Wibler and Theodoros Mitsakos cruised to victories at third and fourth, 6-0, 6-3 and 6-1, 6-1, respectively. Snaiders picked up a 6-1, 6-2 victory at fifth singles and Greg Hastings completed the sweep with a 7-5, 6-3 win at sixth singles.
"Today was a good response after our loss to Princeton," said head coach Lee Nickell. "We had numerous opportunities to win sets on Friday and didn't keep our intensity up enough to win. Today we focused from the start to finish and maintained intensity throughout. We know we are a good team when we are locked in and we are so excited to get into the MAC schedule next week!"
Up next, Buffalo opens Mid-American Conference play on Friday, March 10 at Northern Illinois.
