Bulls Sweep Saturday Action

BUFFALO, NY - The University at Buffalo women's tennis team swept both of their matches at Miller Tennis Center on Saturday defeating Rochester and Niagara by a score of 7-0. With the victories, the Bulls improve to 9-3 on the season.
The Bulls first matched up with the Yellow Jackets where they took the early doubles point with wins at all three positions. Senior Azra Deniz Comlek and freshman Deanne Choo won 6-1 at first doubles, Pia Schwarz and Ambre Amat won 6-0 at second singles and Mariana Carvajal Torres and Lolina Schietekat Sedas cruised to a 6-0 win at three.
UB dominated in singles action as well, winning every match in straight sets. Fifth year Basak Akbas won 6-2, 6-4 at first singles and Comlek followed with a 6-1, 6-0 win at second. Amat moved up to third doubles and continued her hot play as she didn't drop a game, winning 6-0, 6-0. Torres won 6-1, 6-2 at fourth singles, Choo picked up a 6-4, 6-1 victory at fifth and Sedas won 6-0, 6-3 at sixth singles.
In the night match against Niagara, UB swept the doubles point for the second straight match as Comlek and Choo won 6-2 at first doubles, Schwarz and Amat cruised 6-0 at second and Torres and Sedat won -1 at third doubles.
The Bulls again rolled through singles as Schwarz won at one, 6-1, 6-2. Comlek had a 6-2, 6-0 win at two and Akbas dropped just one game in a 6-1, 6-0 victory at three. Amat won 6-2, 6-2 at four, while Akopyan picked up a 6-1, 6-2 win at five. Torres completed the sweep with a decisive 6-1 ,6-1 win at six.
Buffalo returns to action next weekend with a trio of matches, beginning on Friday, March 3 as they host Binghamton and St. Bonaventure in a doubleheader beginning at 12pm at Miller Tennis Center.
