
Bulls Shine on Day One of BU Valentine Invite

BOSTON - The University at Buffalo women's track and field team completed a successful Day 1 of the David Hemery Valentine Invitational hosted by Boston University on Friday afternoon.
Leading the way was senior Christina Wende setting two personal best marks and a win. In the Invitational 60HH, Wende ran 8.69 in the prelims and then placed 4th with a personal best of 8.65 in the finals. Her time moves her to #8 UB All-Time and #6 in the MAC. In the Women's Long Jump, Wende won the event with a jump of 19'8.00"/5.99m, besting Emily Lavarnway of UConn by 1".
Zaria Fuller placed 10th in a season's best jump of 18'00.25"/5.49m. Wende concluded her busy day with a 2nd place finish (first collegiate finisher) in the triple jump, setting a new personal best mark of 41'10.00"/12.75m, just 2cm shy of the UB School Record. Her mark is #2 All-Time for UB, and ranks #1 in the MAC. Kaylah Britt jumped a season's best of 40'6.00"/12.34m, moving her to #3 in the MAC.
The Bulls had a strong showing in the High Jump event with Zahra Amos, Antoinette Miller, and Zaria Fuller all clearing 5'5.25"/1.66m. They placed 5th, 6th, and 8th respectively on misses. Finishing the day with a personal best mark was freshman Vassi Klock in the Mile with a time of 5:03.49. Her time takes 5 seconds off her previous best set earlier this season.

The Bulls will have a contingent of men competing at Day 2 of the David Hemery Valentine Invitational while the rest of the men's and women's team will compete at the Spire Collegiate Invitational on Saturday, Feb. 11.
