Bulls Defeat Cleveland State 4-3 on Friday

BUFFALO, NY – The University at Buffalo men's tennis team picked up its first win of the year, defeating Cleveland State 4-3 at the Miller Tennis Center on Friday night.
The Vikings earned a hard-fought doubles point, picking up a tiebreak win at first doubles and a win at third doubles. Cheng Tang and Yu-Shiang Huang won 6-4 at second doubles.
The Bulls continued to battle, and it paid off in singles action as Tang battled for a 7-5, 7-5 victory at second singles and Theodoros Mitsakos earned a hard-fought 7-5, 7-6 win in the fourth position. Finn Macnamara cruised to a 6-3, 6-3 victory at fifth singles and Greg Hastings picked up a 7-6, 6-4 victory at sixth singles.
"Really proud of our guys getting this gutsy win," said head coach Lee Nickell. "Cleveland Stat did a good job handling our quick start in doubles. We had some ups and downs to start singles but got our groove and did a great job pulling the match out. We look forward to our doubleheader in two weeks."
Buffalo will have a two-week break before hosting Le Moyne and Niagara in a doubleheader at the Miller Tennis Center on Sunday, February 26 beginning at 1:30 pm.
