Bulls Travel to Stony Brook on Saturday

BUFFALO, NY β The University at Buffalo women's basketball team opens play in the month of December with a two-game road trip, beginning with a game on Saturday at Stony Brook at 1pm.
The game will be streamed on SNY and FloHoops with Matt Levine (play-by-play) and Rob Pavinelli (color) announcing and can be heard on the radio on 1400 AM or on the Varsity Network with Jack Kreuzer on the call.
This is the third-ever meeting between Buffalo and Stony Brook and the first in UB's Division I era. The Bulls are 16-7 all-time against opponents from the Colonial Athletic Conference.
Buffalo put forth a dominant effort on both ends of the floor, as they defeated Kutztown 87-47 on Sunday afternoon at Alumni Arena to improve to 5-1 on the year. It was a balanced offensive attack for UB as 12 players saw action, with 11 finding the scoresheet on the day. Five Bulls scored in double figures led by redshirt senior guard Chellia Watson who scored a game-high 17 points. Freshman Kirsten Lewis-Williams scored 15 points to go with five rebounds and three assists, Rana Elhusseini added 11 points and Paula Lopez and Kiara Johnson each recorded season-highs with 10 points each.
The Bulls are balanced offensively with four players averaging in double figures, led by Watson at 20.2 points, 5.0 rebounds and 3.7 assists per game. Lewis-Williams (13.0 ppg, 5.0 rpg, 2.5 apg), Ogden (10.8 ppg, 6.2 rpg) and Elhusseini (10.5 ppg, 3.2 apg) have also made been a consistent scoring threat for UB to start the year. As a team, Buffalo leads the MAC in in scoring defense (.582), scoring margin (+14.2) and field goal defense (.346) and is ranked in the top three in scoring offense (72.3), Β field goal percentage (.461), defensive RPG (26.0), rebounding margin (+2.8) and turnover margin (+2.3).
The Stony Brook Seawolves are 5-1 after falling 67-54 at Minnesota on Sunday. The Seawolves are currently ranked 20th in the latest College Insider Mid-Major Top 25 poll and boast a 71-16 record at Island Federal Arena since the 2017-2018 season, including a 3-0 mark this season. Stony Brook was picked to finish second in the CAA preseason coaches poll. They finished 18-13 (11-7 CAA) in their inaugural season in the CAA last year to earn the No. 6 seed in the CAA Tournament.
The Seawolves are led offensively by Khari Clark who is averaging 15.2 points and 6.5 rebounds per game. Graduate guard Gigi Gonzalez (13.3 ppg, 4.7 apg) and preseason All-CAA first team selection Sherese Pittman (10.3 ppg, 6.2 rpg) are also averaging in double figures. Stony Brook has held 74 of their last 105 opponents under their points per game average since 2019. Furthermore, the Seawolves have held 43 of their last 67 opponents under at home.
Up next, Buffalo will travel to Philadelphia for a contest against the Drexel Dragons on Saturday, December 9 at 2pm.
