BUFFALO, NY – Despite holding a high-powered Ohio squad to a season-low in total offense, the University at Buffalo football team fell to the Bobcats, 20-10, at UB Stadium on Tuesday night.
It was another strong performance by the Buffalo defense as they held Ohio to a season-low 236 yards of total offense in the game. The Bulls were especially stout in the first half, allowing Ohio to only run 14 plays for 41 yards and keeping the Bobcats off the scoreboard. UB took a 3-0 lead to the break thanks to a 41-yard field goal by Alex McNulty.
Ohio scored 10 unanswered points in the third quarter to take a 10-3 lead. C.J. Ogbonna, who split time at quarterback with Cole Snyder, tied the game early in the fourth quarter on a two-yard touchdown run. It was his second rushing touchdown of the season.
However, the Bobcats managed a field goal on their next possession to take a three-point advantage and, following a UB fumble, tacked on a touchdown to take a 20-10 lead in the closing minutes.
UB's defense was led by Joe Andreessen who had nine tackles in the game. Red Murdock added eight stops. Max Michel and George Wolo each recorded sacks for the Bulls.
Snyder threw for 171 yards to lead the offense. Boobie Curry had four receptions for 66 yards, including a career-long 48-yard grab. Ron Cook, Jr. also had four receptions for 25 yards and added 48 yards rushing.
Ogbonna, who was primarily a running quarterback in the game, finished with 47 yards rushing and a touchdown and completed both of his pass attempts.
The Bulls are back in action next Wednesday night when they play at Miami (OH).
