BUFFALO, NY – The University at Buffalo football team dropped their final road game of the season, 23-10, at Miami (OH) on Wednesday night.
It was a defensive battle early as neither team scored in the first quarter. The RedHawks struck first in the second quarter and were able to build a 10-0 lead late in the half. In the closing seconds of the half, Alex McNulty drilled a 47-yard field goal to cut the Miami advantage to 10-3 at the break.
After the RedHawks kicked a field goal early in the third quarter to take a 13-3 lead, the Bulls scored their first touchdown of the night on a three-yard run by CJ Ogbonna to cut the Miami lead to 13-10 with 2:14 left in the third quarter.
However, the RedHawks scored 10 unanswered points in the fourth quarter to put the game away.
It was a tough task for the Bulls as they faced the Mid-American Conference's top-ranked defense. Similar to recent games, Buffalo utilized a two-quarterback system. Cole Snyder threw for 120 yards, while Ogbonna rushed for a team-best 50 yards and a score.
Red Murdock led the Bulls with eight tackles, including two tackles for loss in the game. Fellow linebacker Joe Andreessen had seven tackles and 1.5 tackles for loss of his own. Max Michel also had 1.5 tackles for loss. In total, UB had eight tackles for loss in the game, twice that of the RedHawks.
Buffalo will close out the season at home against Eastern Michigan on Tuesday night.
