Bulls Lose to Hofstra in First Round of the Gulf Coast Showcase

FORT MYERS, Fla. – The University at Buffalo men's basketball team (1-3, 0-0 MAC) lost to the Hofstra Pride (2-2, 0-0 CAA) on Monday evening.
Hofstra jumped out to an 10-0 lead starting 4-of-5 from the floor. The Bulls could not recover as they struggled to find an offensive rhythm. At the half, the Bulls were 6-of-26 (23.1%) from the floor compared to Hofstra who couldn't miss. The Pride were 21-of-34 (61.8%) as they made 10-three pointers.
The Bulls offense started to click as they were 15-of-32 (46.9%) from the floor in the second half. Unfortunately, Hofstra's offense couldn't be stopped. The Pride shot 64.3% in the half and 62.9% in the game.
It was a career-day for Anquan Boldin Jr. as he finished 5-for-10 (50.0%) from the floor and 2-for-5 (40.0%) from three-point range. In total, he finished with 12 points and a career-high three steals. Fellow freshman Lloyd McVeigh scored his first collegiate points from the free throw line, finishing 2-for-2 on the evening.
Sy Chatman led UB with 15 points as Jonnivius Smith had 13 points and eight rebounds. Isaiah Adams added three steals for the Bulls.
The Bulls will play Louisiana tomorrow at 1:30 p.m.
