Bulls Welcome Stonehill to Alumni Arena on Friday

BUFFALO, NY β The University at Buffalo women's basketball team looks to make it two in a row as they welcome the Stonehill Skyhawks to Alumni Arena on Friday night at 6pm.
The game will be streamed on ESPN+ with Paul Peck (play-by-play) and Matt Mattia (color) announcing and can be heard on the radio on 1520 AM or on the Varsity Network with Jack Kreuzer on the call.
This is the second overall meeting between Buffalo and Stonehill. UB defeated the Skyhawks 62-56 at Merkert Gymnasium last season for the first win of Becky Burke's Buffalo career.
Buffalo put on an offensive clinic in a 92-75 rout of Niagara on Tuesday night at Alumni Arena. Five Bulls scored in double figures led by redshirt senior guard Chellia Watson who scored a game-high 25 points to go with nine rebounds, six assists and three steals. Sophomore Hattie Ogden recorded a career-high 21 points and freshman Alexis Davis recorded her first career double-double with a career-best 15 points and 10 rebounds. Senior Rana Elhusseini added 12 points while freshman Kirsten Lewis-Williams recorded her third straight double figure scoring effort with 11 points.
The Bulls are balanced offensively with four players averaging in double figures, led by Watson at 18.3 points, 5.3 rebounds and 4.0 assists per game. Lewis-Williams (13.5 ppg, 5.0 rpg, 2.4 apg), Elhusseini (12.3 ppg, 2.0 apg) and Ogden (10.3 ppg, 6.0 rpg) have also made been a consistent scoring threat for UB to start the year. As a team, Buffalo ranks in the top three in the MAC in scoring defense (.647), field goal defense (.339), defensive rebounds per game (25.0) and blocks per game (5.0).
The Stonehill Skyhawks are 0-4 after falling to Bryant 69-49 in their home opener on Tuesday. The Skyhawks are led offensively by senior guard Jada Thornton who is averaging 12.3 points and 3.8 rebounds per game. She has scored in double figures in every game this season, doubling her career total entering the season. Grad transfer Anna Boruta (11.0 ppg) is also averaging in double figures. Stonehill was picked fifth in the preseason NEC poll in its second go-around in the league. Stonehill returns five letterwinners, including one starter, from its inaugural NCAA Division I season in 2022-23 in which the Skyhawks went 9-20 overall and 5-11 in league action. The Skyhawks lead the NEC with its 38.3 rebounds per game, ranking third with 12.8 offensive boards per game while collecting 24.0 defensive rebounds per game.
Up next, Buffalo will host its third and final Big 4 matchup of the season against the St. Bonaventure Bonnies on Wednesday, November 22 at 1pm.
