
Bulls Host Daemen in Exhibition on Monday Evening

BUFFALO, N.Y. – The University at Buffalo men's basketball team (0-0, 0-0 MAC) will play the Daemen Wildcats (0-0, 0-0 ECC) in an exhibition on Monday evening at 7 p.m.
The 2023-24 season will begin a new era for Bulls basketball as Head Coach George Halcovage III will be at the helm. The first-time head coach brings a plethora of knowledge and experience to Buffalo from his 15 seasons at Villanova. On the bench with Halcovage will be Associate Head Coach Hamlet Tibbs, Assistant Coach/Director of Recruiting Jake Presutti, Assistant Coach/Player Development Calvin Cage, Assistant Coach/Director of Basketball Operation Tim Saunders, and Assistant Coach/Video Operations Jack Fitzpatrick.
Returning to the Bulls is senior Isaiah Adams, juniors Jonnivius Smith and Kanye Jones, red-shirt sophomore Zaakir Williamson, and fifth year Sy Chatman. Adams returns as the Bulls leading scorer and rebounder averaging 11.6 points, 5.0 rebounds, and 1.4 assists per game. He was also the only Bull last season to start in all 32 games for UB. Smith played in all 32 affairs making 12 starts. He went on to average 5.6 points and 4.5 rebounds per game. Off the bench, Jones and Williamson gave the Bulls valuable minutes. Chatman missed the 2022-23 season due to injury.
Joining the Bulls are six underclassmen and one upperclassman. James Graham is the lone upperclassman addition as he spent last season at Missouri State. Ryan Sabol (Washington, D.C.), Anquan Boldin Jr. (Delray, Fla.), Shawn Fulcher (Brooklyn, N.Y. / Ellsworth CC), Lloyd McVeigh (Cabarita Beach, Australia), Diovion Famakinde (Brooklyn, N.Y.), and Bryson Wilson (Alexandria, Va.) will bring youth to the roster.
The Daemen Wildcats finished last season with a 20-8 overall record and 12-4 in the ECC. Longtime Daemen Head Coach Mike MacDonald holds a 179-74 record with the Wildcats and 436-300 overall through 25 seasons of experience.
UB will open the regular season on Monday, Nov. 6 as they host Fairleigh Dickinson at 7:30 p.m. The UB women's team will open against Canisius at 5 p.m. in Alumni Arena as part of the opening double-header. Both games will be streamed on ESPN+.
