Bulls Open February Play at Miami (OH) on Wednesday

BUFFALO, NY β The University at Buffalo women's basketball team (8-9, 3-5 MAC) returns to the state of Ohio to open play in the month of February as they take on the Miami (OH) RedHawks on Wednesday night. Four of UB's next five games will be on the road.
The game will be streamed on ESPN+ with Steve Baker (play-by-play) and Carol Smith (color) announcing and can be heard on the radio on ESPN 1520AM or on the Varsity Network with Jack Kreuzer on the call.
This is the 48th overall meeting between Buffalo and Miami (OH) with the Bulls owning a 27-20 series advantage. The Bulls have won 13 straight meetings against the RedHawks, most recently an 83-71 victory on February 19, 2022.
Buffalo struggled offensively in a loss at Akron on Saturday. Freshman Hattie Ogden was a bright spot for UB as she scored a career-high 15 points, becoming the first Bull to make five threes in a game this season. Fifth year guard Zakiyah Winfield recorded a double-double with 11 points and 10 rebounds and Jazmine Young added 12 points. Β
Winfield leads the team in scoring, rebounding and assists at 14.6 ppg, 10.6 rpg and 3.9 apg and has recorded 11 double-doubles on the season. She is the top rebounding guard in the nation and ranks in the top 20 in the nation in double-doubles, rebounds per game and defensive rebounds per game. Re'Shawna Stone is averaging 14.4 ppg and has scored in double figures in 12 of the last 13 games while adding 5.4 rebounds and 3.5 assists per contest. Young has scored in double figures in 14 of 17 games, including eight straight, and is averaging 14.0 points and 1.7 assists per contest. The Bulls rank in the top half of the MAC in scoring defense (62.1), rebounding defense (34.9), 3FG defense (30.1), field goal percentage (42.9) and assists per game (12.9).
The Miami (OH) RedHawks are 8-13 overall and 3-5 in the MAC after defeating Central Michigan 77-68 on Saturday. Sophomore Ivy Wolff leads the RedHawks in scoring and assists at 18.8 ppg and 3.6 apg. Peyton Scott (14.2 ppg) and Maddi Cluse (14.1 ppg, 7.6 rpg) are also scoring in double figures. All three are ranked in the top 15 in the MAC in scoring. Wolf is third in the MAC in scoring (18.8) and eighth in assists (3.6). She has scored 20+ points in eight games this year and has also led Miami in scoring in nine of the last 10 contests. She is also seventh in the nation in free throw percentage (92.3%). Scott was named to the Becky Hammon Mid-Major Player of the Year Preseason Award Watch List. She ranks fifth all-time on Miami's scoring list and is currently the active leader in MAC career scoring with 1,696 career points. Miami is having its best season shooting under Coach Hendrix, shooting 41.8% from the floor and 33.4% from behind the arc, both ranking in the top five in the MAC.
