
Four Bulls to Compete at USATF U-20 Cross Country National Championships

BUFFALO, N.Y. - The University at Buffalo men's cross country team will be sending a squad of four freshmen to compete at the 2023 USATF Cross Country National Championships on January 21, 2023,Β at Pole Green Park in Richmond, VA. The event will serve as the qualifying race for selection to the 2023 World Athletics Cross Country Championships. The top 6 men (8K) and top 6 women (6K) in the U20 races and the top 6 men (10K) and top 6 women (10K) in the Open races will earn automatic berths to the USA team for the World Athletics Cross Country Championships in Bathurst, Australia.
Representing the Bulls are freshmen Noah Brightman (Pawling HS, Pawling, NY), Ty Fluharty (Riverside HS, Beaver Falls, PA), Matt Gensel (Corning-Painted Post HS, Pine City, NY, and Luke Stoeffler (Tolland HS, Tolland, CT).
"We are excited to take this talented group of men to the Championships to compete for a spot on the USA Team at the World Championships.Β Placing Buffalo on the starting line with the very best U-20 distance runners in the country is an exciting opportunity to continue to grow the exposure of our program among the elite collegiate programs in the country," stated Head Coach Vicki Mitchell. "The experience and knowledge our student-athletes will gain by competing at the national championship event will be invaluable in preparing them for the next three and a half years with the Bulls."
