Bulls Sign Seton Hall Transfer Jonnivius Smith

BUFFALO, NY – The University at Buffalo men's basketball team announced the addition of its eighth newcomer for the upcoming season in Seton Hall transfer Jonnivius "Jo" Smith, head coach Jim Whitesell announced on Monday morning.
Smith is a 6-9 forward from Selma, AL, who played last season for the Pirates after beginning his collegiate career at Chipola College. He saw action in 11 games last year for Seton Hall, including four points in just two minutes of action against Yale.
At Chipola, he played in 24 games, making three starts. He helped play a key role in Chipola's run to a NJCAA South Atlantic District Championship and an appearance in the NJCAA Final Four. Prior to Chipola, he played at Crestwood Prep in North York, Ontario where he helped lead the program to Ontario Scholastic Basketball Association and National Preparatory Association titles during the 2019 season.
"Jo is a player that comes here with a ton of potential, and we are excited to see him in action," said Whitesell. "He is an excellent scorer around the basket, and he is someone who has won at every level he has played at. He will fit very well into our style of play and compliment the pieces we have brought in very well."
