BUFFALO, NY – The University at Buffalo softball team dropped the series finale against Miami (OH) as the RedHawks hit five home runs off the bats of five different players to defeat the Bulls 9-0 on Saturday afternoon at Nan Harvey Field.
The RedHawks struck first on a solo home run in the top of the second and added another home run in the third to take an early 2-0 lead.
The long ball continued to power Miami as they hit a pair of solo shots in the top of the fourth before adding to their lead with a two-run home run in the fifth to go up 6-0.
Buffalo had their best scoring chance of the day in the bottom of the fifth as Anna Aguon and Brianna Castro got on with back-to-back singles and Rachel Steffan drew a walk to load the bases, but the Bulls were unable to plate a run and that proved to be costly as the RedHawks put the game out of reach, scoring three runs on four hits in the top of the sixth to secure the victory.
Up next, the Bulls travel to Akron, OH for a midweek three-game series with the Zips beginning on Tuesday, April 19 at 3pm.
