
Michael Parks and Julian Smith Sign NLI for Cross Country and Track

BUFFALO, N.Y. – The University at Buffalo cross country and track & field team announced the signings of Michael Parks and Julian Smith on Friday morning. The program is excited about his national letter of intent as both Parks and Smith will be competing for the Bulls cross country and track & field squads starting in the 2022-23 campaign.
Parks, from East Syracuse-Minoa, brings great championship experience to the Bulls as a New York State and Nike Nationals finalist in the 55-meter hurdles. He is a great fit for the University at Buffalo program. He has great versatility and athleticism competing in both the high hurdles and high jump at the NYS Championships. He plans to major in engineering. Coach Johnson says, "With his work ethic and competitive spirit Michael is a great representation of his family and New York. We are excited to welcome him to the Bulls Family."
Smith, from Ward Melville Senior High, has demonstrated his strength and prowess as a middle distance standout placing fifth at the New York State Championships 600-meter finals. He is equally committed to his success in the classroom and plans to major in political science. Coach Witzleben adds that "Julian has the talent and the right attitude to be successful in our middle distance program. It's going to be fun to watch him develop his strength and speed as a Bull."
"We continue to bring in young, exciting, and committed student-athletes to our program," stated Head Coach Vicki Mitchell. "I am very excited to welcome both Michael and Julian to our program who will continue our tradition of excellent on the track and in the classroom."
