
Bulls Travel to Akron on Wednesday

BUFFALO, NY – As the calendar turns to March, the University at Buffalo women's basketball team will play its final regular season road game of the season at Akron on Wednesday night. It is a pivotal late season matchup with Buffalo looking to lock up the number two seed with a win over the Zips who are just behind the Bulls in third place in the current MAC standings.
The game will be streamed on ESPN3 with Michael Reghi (play-by-play) and Jacki Windon (color) announcing and can be heard on the radio on ESPN 5200 AM or on the Varsity Network with Matt Mattia on the call.
This is the 56th overall meeting between Buffalo and Akron, with the Bulls owning the 31-24 series edge. The Bulls are 9-2 in their last 11 meetings with the Zips, most recently a 76-59 victory at Alumni Arena on January 19.
Winners of four straight, Buffalo is 20-8 overall and 14-4 in league play after defeating Kent State 82-64 on Saturday. Junior guard Dyaisha Fair led all scorers with 28 points to go with three rebounds, three assists and two steals. Summer Hemphill recorded her second straight double-double with 15 points and 18 rebounds and Loren Christie also scored in double figures with 12 points while adding six rebounds and three blocks.
Fair leads the Bulls and ranks fourth in the nation in scoring at 23.8 points per game. Hemphill is averaging a double-double with 13.6 points and 10.1 rebounds per game while freshman Georgia Woolley has scored in double figures in 21 of the last 23 games and is averaging 14.3 points per game, the best amongst all rookies in the league. Buffalo is distributing the basketball at an excellent clip, averaging 15.0 assists per game and a 1.1 assist-to-turnover ratio, while also ranking 21st in the nation in rebounds per game (42.0). That leads to a potent offense which ranks 21st in the nation in scoring (75.7 ppg). The Bulls are ranked 75th in the latest NET rankings. They are also ranked 21st in the College Insider Mid-Major Top 25 poll.
Akron enters Wednesday's contest with a 15-9 overall record and 12-6 league mark after defeating Ohio 88-77 on Saturday. The Zips are led offensively by Jordyn Dawson who is averaging 22.3 points, 9.8 rebounds and 4.3 assists per game. Reagan Bass is also averaging in double figures at 11.7 points and 5.8 rebounds per game. Dawson has recorded 11 double-doubles on the season and is averaging a double-double in MAC play with 24.1 points and 10.8 rebounds per game. As a team, Akron leads the MAC and ranks 25th in the NCAA in fewest turnovers (338) and ranks 47th in fewest fouls (382). The Zips have connected on five or more three-pointers in 18 games this season, and 49 of its last 55 contests overall and rank third in the MAC in three-point field goal percentage (33.8).
