
Bulls Remain Unbeaten With 6-1 Win Over IUP

WILLIAMSVILLE, NY – The University at Buffalo women's tennis team picked up their fifth dual victory of the season on Saturday afternoon as the Bulls defeated Indiana University of Pennsylvania, 6-1, at the Miller Tennis Center.
Buffalo scored wins at first and second doubles to secure the early point. The number one team of Pia Schwarz and Nikoleta Antoniou-Karademitrou won 6-4, while Azra Deniz Comlek and Hsin-Yun Shih won their match at second doubles in a shutout, 6-0. The third doubles match was forfeited by the visitors.
In singles action, the Bulls got on the board first with a forfeit at six, giving UB the 2-0 lead. Of the five matches played, the Bulls were victorious in four of them.
Schwarz won 6-3, 6-3 at first singles, while Shih scored a 6-2, 6-1 win at two. IUP picked up their lone victory at third singles and the Bulls closed it out with wins at four and five. Ambre Amat won 6-2, 6-2 at four and sophomore Mariana Carvajal Torres won at five, 6-3, 6-0.
"This was a great match for us to begin our spring season," said head coach Kristen Maines. "I was very proud of the way the group played and the energy they had all afternoon."
The Bulls return to action tomorrow at 12:30 pm when they host Bucknell at Miller Tennis Center.
