BUFFALO, NY - Buffalo returns home for its final two-game homestand of the season beginning on Saturday with part two of the Bulls versus the Northern Illinois Huskies. UB defeated NIU, 79-68, on Thursday evening for UB's eighth straight win. It is Buffalo's longest winning streak since 13 in a row in 2018-19. UB is also looking to win nine games in a calendar month for the first time in school history.
The Bulls placed four in double figures on Thursday evening, led by Jeenathan Williams, who scored 28 points just one game after hitting the game-winner at Miami. Williams is now 10th in school history in scoring at 1,407 career points and is just seven points shy of ninth place, held by 2005 MAC Player of the Year Turner Battle (2001-05).
Senior Josh Mballa joined the 1,000 point club on Thursday evening, becoming the 26th player in school history and the fourth this season to do so. Buffalo is one 16 schools with at least four active 1,000 point scorers and one of eight schools to have at least three players achieve it at one school.
Buffalo leads the all-time series 22-16 following Thursday night's win. UB has now won two straight meetings in the series, both in DeKalb. The Huskies won the last meeting at Alumni Arena, a 73-72 win on Jan. 4, 2020.
