
Bulls Wrap Up Fall Season at MAC Indoor Tournament

KALAMAZOO, MI - The University at Buffalo men's tennis team wrapped up their fall season this past weekend as the Bulls took part in the MAC Indoor Tournament, held by Western Michigan.
In doubles action which took place earlier in the weekend, Daniils Snaiders and Theodoros Mitsakos won three straight matches to win the doubles title at third doubles, defeating their teammates Greg Hastings and Ryan Thompson who won their first two matches, 8-5. Simon Wibler and Finn Macnamara overcame a first-round loss, to claim the consolation bracket in first doubles. The final victory was an 8-6 win against a duo from Toledo. Cheng Tang and Yu-Shiang Huang also rallied from an opening round loss to win the consolation bracket in second doubles, defeating Binghamton 8-5 in the final match.
In singles, Snaiders advanced to the championship of the third singles flight, winning his first match 6-3, 7-6(5) and then a 6-3, 6-4 win in the second match before defeating Western Michigan 6-4, 6-1 in the finals.
In sixth singles, Huang won his opening two matches 6-4, 6-1 and 6-2, 6-4 to advance to the finals where he defeated Ball State 6-2, 6-0 in the finals.
Wibler made it to the finals of the first singles flight as he won his first match 6-0, 6-4 and then he overcame a second set loss in the semis with a 6-3, 3-6, 6-3 win. He then fell to Toledo 6-4, 6-3 in the finals.
In fifth singles action, Mitsakos advanced to the championship match after overcoming a first set loss in his opening match to go on to win in three-sets 4-6, 7-5, 6-1 and the winning 6-1, 6-3 in his next match to advance to the finals where he fell to Binghamton 6-4, 6-4 in the finals.
Macnamara and Tang both won their opening matches at second and fourth singles, respectively before falling in the second round.
