Bulls Fall to Miami (OH) on Sunday

OXFORD, OH – The University at Buffalo softball team dropped the series finale at Miami (OH) on Sunday afternoon.
The Bulls threatened early as Rachel Steffan and Alexis Matheney recorded back-to-back singles to put UB in scoring position but they were unable to plate a run and that would prove to be costly as Miami got on the board in the bottom of the inning, scoring three runs on three hits to take a 3-0 lead.
Buffalo would get on the board in the top of the fourth as Steffan drew a walk and Matheney singled and later stole second before Jenna Richmond reached on an error, scoring Steffan, and Matheney later scored on a Miami throwing error to cut the lead to 4-2.
Miami would answer with two runs in the bottom of the inning on a solo home run and an RBI single to go up 6-2 and would add to their lead scoring three runs on two hits in the bottom of the sixth to take a 9-2 lead.
Needing a rally to extend the game, the Bulls loaded the bases in the top of the seventh and Alicia Peters smacked a two-RBI single to left center field to cut the lead to 9-4 but that would be all UB would manage as the comeback fell short.
Buffalo returns to action on Tuesday with a midweek doubleheader at Kent State.
