Cross Country Earns USTFCCCA All-Academic Honors

NEW ORLEANS – On Thursday afternoon the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) announced the 2020-21 All-Academic Honors for Cross Country. Both the UB men's and women's programs earned this honor this year.
There were 233 NCAA Division I women's programs who received this honor along with 199 men's programs. The men's cross country cumulative GPA was an astounding 3.452 as the women's team had a very strong 3.397 GPA.
This marks the second season in a row that both programs have received this distinction.
"I am very proud of the success our men and women have in the classroom," stated Head Coach Vicki Mitchell. "The academic curriculums of our student-athletes' majors are extremely rigorous. The high level of success we continue to achieve both in the classroom and on the cross country course is a reflection of their work ethic and commitment to both their academic success and our cross country and track & field programs. Coach Witzleben and I have developed a culture of commitment to academics first, and our team has bought in knowing their future is dependent on their hard work now."
