JACKSONVILLE, FL – The University at Buffalo Bulls softball team dropped their first two games at the Jacksonville/North Florida Tournament on Friday. Bulls lost to Georgia State, 10-2, in the opener and then to host Jacksonville, 10-2, in the night cap.
The Bulls got off to a good start in the opener as an RBI single by Hannah Bardeen followed by a RBI walk by Anna Aguon gave the Bulls a 2-1 lead in the bottom of the second inning.
However, the Panthers answered with five runs in the top of the third inning to take a 6-2 lead and control of the game.
Bardeen led UB in game one, going 2-for-3 with a double, RBI and run scored. Rachel Steggan and Alicia Peters also had hits for the Bulls.
The host Dolphins were not very hospitable as they posted eight runs in the bottom of the second inning to take command of the contest. The Bulls tried to rally in the top of the fourth inning scoring two runs on an RBI double by Alicia Peters followed by an RBI single by Alexis Lucyshyn. But it wasn't enough as Jacksonville defeated UB, 10-2.
Lucyshyn finished the game, 2-for-2. Alexis Matheney and Jenna Richmond also added singles for the Bulls.
Buffalo will be back in action tomorrow afternoon with two games against North Florida.
