
Bulls Look For Fifth Straight Win, Host VCU on Wednesday

BUFFALO, NY – The University at Buffalo women's basketball team looks to extend their win streak to five games as they welcome the VCU Rams to Alumni Arena on Wednesday night in the final game of this four-game homestand. It is the second overall meeting between the two teams and the second straight Atlantic 10 opponent for UB.
The game will be streamed on ESPN3 with Matt Mattia (play-by-play) and Paul Peck (color) announcing and can be heard on the radio on 1400AM or on the Varsity Network with Bob Gaughan on the call.
Buffalo is coming off a 69-55 wire-to-wire victory over Rhode Island on Sunday. Four Bulls scored in double figures for the second straight game, led by Summer Hemphill who scored a game-high 20 points. Freshman Georgia Woolley scored in double figures for the second straight game with 13 points, junior Dyaisha Fair stuffed the stat sheet with 11 points, eight rebounds and nine assists and senior Jazmine Young scored in double figures for the fourth straight game with 10 points. Buffalo forced 19 Rams' turnovers, turning those miscues into 17 points, while also scoring 22 points in the paint and converting nine offensive rebounds into 16 second chance points.
VCU enters Wednesday's contest with a 5-2 overall record after defeating Boston College 69-65 on Sunday. The Rams are led offensively by Taya Robinson who is averaging 14.3 points and 4.6 rebounds. Janika Griffith-Wallace (10.9 ppg, 4.0 rpg) and Sarah Te-Biasu (10.1 ppg, 3.6 apg) are also averaging in double figures. VCU was picked to finish fourth in the Atlantic 10 preseason poll. The Rams return five of the top seven scorers from last year's championship team. The Rams have two wins against current members of Power 5 conferences (Boston College, Washington) in the same season for the first time since 1995-96. The Rams have posted top 35 defenses nationally in two of the past three seasons. This year, the Rams rank 15th in 3-point defense and 29th in scoring defense.
