
Bulls Wrap Up Fall Season With UB Invite

BUFFALO, NY – The University at Buffalo women's tennis team hosted the UB Fall Invite this past weekend, welcoming competitors from Cornell, St. John's, Syracuse, and Niagara. The weekend was played in a hidden dual format with UB playing different teams each day.
On Friday, UB matched up with Cornell, winning two of the three matches in doubles. Hsin-Yuan Shih and Azra Deniz Comlek won 6-2 at second doubles and Ambre Amat and Lolina Schietekat Sedas won at third doubles, 6-4.
In singles action, Shih won in three sets at second singles and Comlek won easy at third singles, 6-2, 6-4. Nikoleta Antoniou-Karademitrou scored a 6-1, 3-6, 10-5 victory at sixth singles.
On Saturday, Buffalo faced the Red Storm of St. John's and again came away with a pair of doubles victories. Shih and Comlek won 6-0 and Amat and Schietekat Sedas won 6-4. Shih had an easy 6-3, 6-1 victory at second singles, while Akopyan won at four, 6-3, 6-7 (3), 10-3. Amat won at fifth singles, 6-7, 7-5, 13-11.
On Sunday, Buffalo played a combination of players from Syracuse and Niagara. Amat and Schietekat Sedas won their doubles match 7-5. In singles, Pia Schwarz defeated Syracuse's Shorti Ito, 6-3, 6-2. The other victories came against the Purple Eagles as Comlek won 6-3, 6-2 at three, while Akopyan won easily 6-1, 6-1 at four. Amat scored a 6-3, 6-4 victory and Antoniou-Karademitrou lost just one game in a 6-1, 6-0 victory at six.
The Bulls will resume competition when their spring season begins in early February.
