
Men’s Basketball Finalizes 2021-22 Schedule

BUFFALO, NY – The University at Buffalo men's basketball team put its finishing touches on one of the most challenging schedules in school history with the addition of two home games at Alumni Arena.
"We studied the NET and how best to achieve the goal of an at large bid into the NCAA Tournament when we made our scheduling decisions for this upcoming year," said head coach Jim Whitesell. "We feel we have a special group that deserves this opportunity, and we are excited for the opportunity to play a number of teams that made postseason appearances a year ago."
Buffalo will open up with an exhibition game against one of the top D-II programs in the nation as the Bulls welcome Daemen on Nov. 4 as part of a doubleheader with women's program. UB will then open the regular season at Michigan, and it was just announced that will air on the Big Ten Network at 6:30 pm.
The Bulls will continue their season-opening road trip at North Texas on Nov. 15 before coming home for their regular season home opener on Nov. 20 against Rider. This will be a campus site game for the Cancun Challenge. For there the Bulls will head down to Mexico for two games beginning on Nov. 23 against Stephen F. Austin followed by a contest the next day against either Saint Louis or Illinois State. Both of those games will air on CBS Sports Network.
UB will then return home on Monday, Nov. 29 when it hosts Point Park out of Pittsburgh, PA. The Bulls will be one of three Mid-American Conference schools the Pioneers play in November as Point Park will also face Akron and Kent State.
December will begin with a trip down to Big 4 rival St. Bonaventure on Dec. 4, a game that will air on a to be determined NBC Digital Network at 4:30 pm. The Bulls remain on the road Dec. 8 at Western Kentucky before returning home to face St. John Fisher on Dec. 11.
Buffalo will remain in Western New York on Dec. 18 when it faces Canisius in a tripleheader down at the KeyBank Center in downtown Buffalo. The UB-Canisius game will tip off at approximately 5pm. The Bulls will then close out non-conference play at home against UC-Irvine on Dec. 21.
As previously announced, Mid-American Conference play will begin on Dec. 29 with a rare weekday doubleheader with the women's program who will also open league play. The UB men will face Miami (OH) at 4pm.
Three January league games were picked up for television the league office announced on Friday. Buffalo's trip to Ball State will air on Friday, Jan. 14 at 6pm on CBS Sports Network, while CBSSN will also televise UB's home game against Kent State on Friday, Jan. 21 at 8pm. ESPNU will come to town on Friday, Jan. 28 as it will broadcast a rematch of the 2021 MAC Championship game against Ohio at 7pm.
February TV selections will be released at a late date as the MAC has nine 21-day wildcard selections for regular season games in February and March.
