BUFFALO, N.Y. – The University at Buffalo track & field and cross country Head Coach Vicki Mitchell announced the signing of Jade Dennis and Sean O'Brien to a National Letter of Intent on Monday morning. Both Dennis and O'Brien will join the Bulls for the 2020 campaign after finishing their high school careers.
Jade Dennis, from Shenendahowa High School in Clifton Park, is the latest to join the Bulls for the 2020 incoming freshman class. Jade comes from a strong high school track & field program at Shenendahowa High School. She has competed at the NYS meet in both indoor and outdoor track & field, as well as the Indoor and Outdoor High School National Championships. Her 4x800m relay team was ranked first in NYS and top-10 in the country in the 2019 outdoor season, and she has helped her team to the best time in NYS in 2020. Her personal-best marks of 2:12.69 in the 800m run, 2:59.92 in the 1,000m and 4:40.96 in the 1,500m will be a strong addition to the UB women's team. She will be majoring in political science.
"We are excited to welcome Jade to the UB track & field and cross-country family," stated Mitchell. "She brings great experience and has a desire to continue to develop to achieve her potential. Her work ethic and dedication will be great addition to our program."
Sean O'Brien, from Guilderland High School will join the UB Bulls cross country and track & field teams in the fall of 2020 to begin his freshman year. Sean is coming off an exceptional cross country season where he placed 11th at the Nike Cross Country New York Regional meet, narrowly missing the National championships. On the track, Sean has personal best marks of 9:36.85 in the 2-mile and a time of 9:42 in the 3k steeple chase.
"Sean is just starting to come into form," said Associate Head Coach Todd Witzleben. "His cross country season was a break-through, and his track season is going to be exciting to watch. He will be joining signee Evan Hilbert to help continue the strong men's distance program at the University at Buffalo."
