Bulls Prepare for Boston College Invitational
9/18/2019 1:52:00 PM | Cross Country
BUFFALO, NY – The University at Buffalo cross country teams will head to Boston, Mass. for the Coast to Coast Battle in Beantown. The women's 5k race will start at 3 p.m. with the men's 8k race to follow at 3:30 p.m. at Franklin Park.
There will be a plethora of teams at the invitational as 24 schools will be competing. The Bulls will look to keep their hot start alive as they will face Albany, Arkansas, Army West Point, Boston College, Boston University, Brown, Dartmouth, Eastern Michigan, Georgia Tech, Harvard, Navy, Providence, UMass, UMass Lowell, Northeastern, New Hampshire, UPenn, Rhode Island, Vermont, Stony Brook, Syracuse, Wake Forest and Washington. This will give the Bulls a good test for the NCAA Northeast Regional as they will see 14 of the competing schools in mid-November.
The Bulls are off to a great start to their 2019 campaign as both the men's and women's teams have won both their races. The women's squad is led by freshman Alexia Hecico who has been a top-two finisher in both races. Hecico is now in the UB's all-time top-10 performances for the UB Stampede Invite as she finished the 6k race in 22:23.8. Dana Lynch, Meghan LaTuso, Riley Jones, Maxine Dupuis and Alanna Kramer will also be looking for a strong race on Friday.
The men's squad is led by Caleb Covell, Cal Puskar, Scott Loforte and Christopher Nowak who will all look for top-five finishes in a huge field of runners. Ryan Buzby, RJ Pleasants and Louis Greco have also had solid performances for the Bulls that have brought them to their early season victories. The veteran presence has helped both squads this season so far.
This will be the first time the Bulls participate in this race as they will try to make it a memorable one.
Live meet results for the women and men can be found here.
