BUFFALO, NY – University at Buffalo running back Jaret Patterson was named the Mid-American Conference East Division Offensive Co-Player of the Week on Monday following his record performance in the Bulls' 49-30 win over Toledo. He shared the award with Kent State quarterback Dustin Crum.
Patterson rushed for a career-high 192 yards and four touchdowns and added 35 receiving yards and another score in Buffalo's 49-30 win over Toledo. His five total touchdowns tied a Mid-American Conference record for a single game. Patterson scored on touchdown runs of 1, 1, 2 and 7 yards. His four rushing touchdowns tied a school record for a single game in Buffalo's FBS era. His 24-yard touchdown reception, late in the first quarter, was the first of five straight touchdowns he scored for the Bulls in the game.
The sophomore running back is having another standout season for the Bulls. He has rushed for 1,328 yards to lead the MAC and rank eighth in the nation. He is 207 yards shy of the single-season rushing record held by Branden Oliver. Patterson has 11 rushing touchdowns on the year.
It marks the second time Patterson has won the award. He also won the award once last season.
It is the seventh week a UB player has been named MAC East Player of the Week. Safety Joey Banks has won the award three times, following the Penn State, Temple and Central Michigan games. Defensive end Taylor Riggins was honored following the Ohio game. Defensive end Ledarius Mack took home the award after the Akron game. Quarterback Kyle Vantrease and defensive tackle Chibueze Onwuka each won the award following UB's win at Eastern Michigan.
The 6-5 Bulls will host Bowling Green in the regular-season finale on Friday at UB Stadium.
