Hoof Prints: Shifty running back who was the first freshman in school history to rush for 1,000 yards in a season in 2018 and followed it up breaking the single-season school record for rushing as a sophomore in 2019... named a 2020 preseason All-American as well as to the watch lists for the Doak Walker and Maxwell Awards... twin brother of linebacker James Patterson... team captain... major is communication.
Junior (2020): In only six games, rushed for 1,072 yards and 19 touchdowns… led the nation in rushing average (178.7 ypg)… eclipsed 1,000 yards in his fifth game, tying the FBS record for earliest game to reach 1,000 yards… winner of the Vern Smith Leadership Award, given to the top player in the Mid-American Conference… named the MAC Offensive Player of the Year… named All-MAC First Team… an All-America Second Team selection… tied an FBS record with eight rushing touchdowns against Kent State (11/28)… also rushed for a MAC-record 409 yards against the Golden Flashes – the second-highest single-game total in FBS history… it came on the heels of a 301-yard, four-touchdown performance against Bowling Green (11/17)… the combined 710 yards was the highest rushing total in consecutive games in FBS history… rushed for 137 yards and two touchdowns against Northern Illinois (11/4)… rushed for 73 yards and two touchdowns against Miami (OH) (11/10)… rushed for 105 yards and two touchdowns in the first half against Akron (12/12).
Sophomore (2019): Had the finest season by a running back in school history… rushed for a single-season school record 1,799 yards and scored 19 rushing touchdowns, also a school record… led the MAC and ranked fifth in the nation in rushing… named All-MAC First Team… had eight 100-yard rushing games on the season… named the Walter Camp National Player of the Week after rushing for a single-game school record 298 yards and a Mid-American Conference record six touchdowns against Bowling Green (11/29)… this came on the heels of a 192-yard, five total touchdown performance against Toledo (11/20)… rushed for 490 yards and 10 touchdowns over the final two games of the regular season… rushed for 133 yards and two touchdowns against Temple (9/21)… rushed for 183 yards, including an 82-yard touchdown at Miami (OH) (9/28)… rushed for 149 yards and a touchdown against Central Michigan (10/26)… rushed for 160 yards and two touchdowns at Eastern Michigan (11/2)… rushed for 141 yards and a touchdown at Kent State (11/14)… twice named MAC East Division Offensive Player of the Week… named the Offensive MVP of the Makers Wanted Bahamas Bowl after rushing for 173 yards and two touchdowns against Charlotte.
Freshman (2018): Appeared in 14 games and started six at running back… named the MAC Freshman of the Year and All-MAC Second Team… led the team in rushing with 1,013 yards and 14 touchdowns on the season – both school records for a freshman running back… averaged 5.5 yards per carry which was third in school history for a single season… rushed for 34 yards and a touchdown against Delaware State (9/1)… had 14 carries for 104 yards and two touchdowns at Rutgers (9/22)… had 18 carries for 121 yards and a touchdown at Central Michigan (10/6)… rushed for 91 yards and a touchdown against Akron (10/13)… rushed for 90 yards and two touchdowns at Toledo (10/20)… ran for 96 yards and a touchdown against Miami (10/30)… had a season-high 187 yards and two touchdowns on only 18 carries (all in the first half) against Kent State (11/6)… named the MAC East Offensive Player of the Week for his efforts against Kent State… had 11 carries for 88 yards and two touchdowns at Bowling Green (11/23)… rushed for 72 yards and a touchdown against Northern Illinois (11/30)... rushed for 67 yards and a touchdown against Troy (12/22).
High School: Running back from St. Vincent Pallotti High School where he was named the team’s Player of the Year. Rushed for 2,045 yards and 23 touchdowns his senior season. Also tallied 113 receiving yards. In a game vs. Riverside Baptist he accounted for 558 all-purpose yards (282 rushing, 54 receiving, 124 KOR, 98 INT return). Named All-State Honorable Mention.
