10/16/2019 11:52:00 AM | Cross Country
BUFFALO, NY – The University at Buffalo cross country teams will get set for a double race weekend as they will travel to State College, Pa. for the Penn State National Invite on Friday, Oct. 18. The teams will then travel to local Canisius College for the Canisius Alumni Challenge on Saturday. The Penn State National Invite will start with the women's 6k race at 10:45 a.m. followed by the men's 5.2 mile race at 11:30 a.m. The Canisius Alumni Challenge begins at noon.
With only three races remaining until the MAC Championships on Saturday, Nov. 2 in DeKalb, Ill., both squads look to keep their seasons accelerating in positive directions.
Freshman standout Alexia Hecico has led the Bulls in every race this season. Hecico and her teammates will look to continue this season's success as they have finished in the top-three in three of their four races. Freshmen Dana Lynch and Maxine Dupuis have also been very consistent this season as they have competed in all of the races.
The men's team has been very competitive this season as they have faced top programs in Syracuse, Army West Point, Harvard and Washington. The team has finished in first place twice and will look to keep their season on the right foot. Caleb Covell, William Hilbert and Scott Loforte have been top competitors for the squad.
As the teams approach the half way mark of the season, the Bulls will take each race as a stepping stone forward to the MAC Championships.
