
Bulls Stay Perfect In MAC Play With 5-2 Win At EMU

YPSILANTI, MI – The University at Buffalo women's tennis team improved to 2-0 in Mid-American Conference play on Sunday afternoon with a 5-2 win at Eastern Michigan. UB also improved to 10-4 overall on the season.
The Bulls scored the doubles point to get things rolling as the number two team of Margarita Kotok and Chantal Martinez Blanco recorded a 6-4 win, while the number three duo of Laura Holterbosch and Christine Haraldson won 6-2.
In singles play, Buffalo took four of the six singles matches with EMU's two victories coming at five and in an injury withdrawal at three. Sophomore Tanja Stojanovska won at first singles 5-7, 6-1, 6-4, while Martinez Blanco claimed a 6-2, 4-6, 6-3 win at second singles.
Holterbosch won at four as she took down her opponent in straight sets, 6-3, 6-1, while freshman Sanjana Sudhir also scored a straight sets win at six, 6-2, 7-6 (4).
"It's never easy to win on the road so I am really proud of our team for starting strong and never letting up," said head coach Kristen Maines. "We are excited to be 2-0 in conference play, but at the same time know we have some things to work on to reach our ultimate goal of a MAC Championship."
The Bulls will return home on Friday afternoon when they host Western Michigan at 1:00 pm.
