Duquesne then picked up a win at sixth singles, but freshman Sanjana Sudhir came through with a 6-3, 7-5 win at fifth singles to put the Bulls up 3-2 in the match. Martinez Blanco dropped her opening set, but then came back with a dominating 6-1 victory in the second set to force a third. Riding the momentum of the crowd, Martinez Blanco won the third set 6-4, clinching the match for UB.
"I am extremely pleased with the way we played today over a really good and very well-coached Duquesne team," said head coach Kristen Maines. "We set the tone in doubles with the way we competed and we were able to ride that momentum into singles play tonight."
