
Bulls Down Bearcats, 6-1

WILLIAMSVILLE, NY – The University at Buffalo women's tennis team won their second straight match on Saturday afternoon as the Bulls defeated SUNY rival Binghamton, 6-1. The win improves the Bulls to 6-2 on the year.
UB took the doubles point as Tanja Stojanovska and Chantal Martinez-Blanco won in a tiebreaker 7-6 (5) and the duo of Mercedes Losada Rubio and Christine Haroldson won at third doubles in a tiebreaker of their own 7-6 (4).
In singles action Buffalo won five of the six matches beginning with a 6-2, 6-2 win at first singles for Stojanovska. Martinez-Blanco won at second singles, 6-1, 7-5 and Losada Rubio picked up a 3-6, 6-2, 6-4 win at third singles.
Junior Laura Holterbosch won 6-4, 6-4 at fourth singles and freshman Sanjana Sudhir won at fifth singles 1-6, 6-3, 7-6 (0). Binghamton won its lone match at sixth singles.
"We competed well this weekend and picked up two wins after a tough road weekend last week," said head coach Kristen Maines. "Our newcomers continue to be very impressive and are winning matches no matter where we put them in the lineup."
The Bulls will travel to Minnesota on Friday evening for a 5:00 pm match with the Golden Gophers.
