
Bulls Beat Brown, 4-3

PROVIDENCE, RI - After dropping a close 4-3 match to Cornell on Friday, the Bulls pulled out a 4-3 win over Brown two days later. UB gained momentum with winning the points in doubles and never looked back as they won three of the six singles matches. Mehta won his second match of the day with a 6-4, 6-2 decision over Da Silveira in No. 5 singles to seal to dual match victory over Brown.
Noah Hajdu-Andersson and Akhil Mehta defeated Haworth/Mitak in No. 2 doubles, 6-4, while Sergio Arevalillo and Ethan Nittolo won 7-5 over Tan/Da Silveira in No. 3 doubles. The two doubles wins secured a point for UB.
Pablo Alvarez defeated Mitak in straight sets, 6-3, 6-0. Arevalillo won at No. 4 singles. After winning the first set 6-1, he dropped the second set 2-6. However, the momentum shifted back to Arevalillo's advantage in the third set finding a convincing victory with a 6-2 result.
Amar Hromic battled hard but fell, 6-4, 6-3, in No. 1 singles. Tarwid defeated Nittolo, 6-3, 6-2, while Hajdu-Andersson lost, 6-2, 6-0, to Tan.
The 4-3 win was a good result for the Bulls as they look ahead to their trip to Yale next weekend for three separate matches.
"Today our energy carried us through this match," head coach Lee Nickell said after Sunday's victory. "I can't say enough about our seniors and the culture they are creating. We have to stay focused and prepare for a tough weekend ahead at Yale."
