
Bulls Fall To Murray St., 3-0

SEATTLE, WA – The University at Buffalo, The State University of New York volleyball team concluded its weekend in Seattle with a 3-0 loss to preseason Ohio Valley Conference favorite, Murray State.
UB was close in two of the three sets, but fell 25-22, 25-8, 25-21. The Bulls trailed 19-13 in the opening set when they rattled off three straight points to pull within 19-16 following a Marissa Prinzbach service ace. The Racers then went up 24-17, but UB fought off five set points before Murray State won, 25-22.
The Racers took the second set easily, 25-8, but then UB fought back to make it close in the third. A kill by freshman Madison Clark gave UB an 8-4 lead, but Murray State came back to tie the set up at 9-9. The set remained tied at 19-19, but Murray State responded with four straight points to take a 23-19 lead. UB pulled within 24-21, but Murray State clinched the match on the next point.
Senior Megan Lipski led the Bulls with 11 kills and just two errors for the match. Sophomore Cassie Shado added eight kills and one error. Prinzbach had 20 assists on the afternoon as she went over 3,000 career assists this weekend, split between her time at UConn and UB.
Defensively, Niki Bozinoski finished with 12 digs and UB as a team had 7.0 total blocks. Shado and senior Amber Hatchett each led the way with three.
UB will return to action next week when it plays in the Rebel Classic at Ole Miss. The Bulls open with the host Rebels at 12:00 pm on Friday afternoon.
