
Bulls Fall Short Against Belmont, 3-0

OXFORD, MS – The University at Buffalo, The State University of New York volleyball team fell to Belmont, 3-0, on Friday night at the Rebel Classic.
Belmont took the match 31-29, 25-14, 25-22 for its third win of the year. The first set was close through out and the Bulls had opportunities to put it away as they led 24-22, but Belmont scored three straight points to take a 25-24 lead. UB then fought off two set points and had three set points of their own, but leading 29-28, Belmont scored the final three points of the set.
The Bruins won the second set 25-14 and led for most of the third set, finally taking it 25-22, which clinched the match for Belmont.
Amber Hatchett and Megan Lipski each led the Bulls with seven kills, while Valisha Watkins and Cassie Shado finished with six. Senior Marissa Prinzbach finished with 25 assists.
Defensively, sophomore Tessa Ooyama finished with eight digs, while Prinzbach added six. UB had 11.0 total blocks, led by six from Shado.
The Bulls conclude play tomorrow at the Rebel Classic against Southern Mississippi.
