
Bulls Head South To Ole Miss For Rebel Classic

OXFORD, MS – The University at Buffalo, The State University of New York volleyball program will begin its third weekend of play as the Bulls remain on the road and travel to Ole Miss for the Rebel Classic. This is the third straight Power 5 school that UB will travel to after trips to Penn State and Washington these past two weekends.
The Bulls are still looking for their first victory of the season, but have been led by sophomore Cassie Shado, who is first on the team with 32 kills and 19 total blocks. Senior Marissa Prinzbach, who picked up her 3,000th career assist last weekend split between her time at UConn and UB, leads the Bulls with 110 assists. Sophomore Niki Bozinoski leads the defense with 54 digs.
UB will open the weekend on Friday at 12:00 pm EST against Ole Miss in a match that will air on SEC Network+ and ESPN3. The Rebels are 7-1 on the season and have won three straight matches. Nakeyta Clair leads Ole Miss with 93 kills and a .452 hitting percentage, while Kate Gibson adds 68 kills. Aubrey Edie leads Ole Miss with 342 assists and Kristen Brashear leads them with 102 digs.
The Bulls will then play Belmont later in the evening in a match that will begin at 8:30pm EST. The Bruins are 2-4 on the season, but have won their last two matches after starting the year 0-4. Arianna Person leads the Bruins with 85 kills and Brie Lewis has 70 kills. Emma Price leads Belmont with 235 assists and Arianna Person has a team-high 98 digs.
UB will close out tournament play on Saturday morning at 11:00 am EST when they face Southern Mississippi. The Golden Eagles enter the weekend undefeated as they have won their first nine matches. Stephanie Purdue leads Southern Miss with 156 kills, while Sarah Bell leads the offense with 93 assists. Kylie Grandy has 15 service aces, while defensively, Mary Pursell leads them with 155 digs and Elise Ames has 39 total blocks.
