
Three Bulls Named To Academic All-MAC Softball Team

BUFFALO, NY - The Mid-American Conference announced its 2015 Softball Academic All-MAC team Tuesday. A total of 79 student-athletes were named to the team including three members of the UB Softball Team, Hayley Barrow, Alexis Curtiss, and Kenzie Koch.
Barrow finished third on the team in batting average as she hit .301 with 36 hits, 14 doubles, seven home runs and 32 runs batted in. Her seven home runs were tied for the team lead, while her doubles and RBI totals were second on the squad. Barrow's biggest home run came on May 1 as she belted a home run to left field in extra innings, delivering the Bulls to a walk-off win over Northern Illinois.
Curtiss led the Bulls in every offensive category as she had one of the best seasons in school history. Curtiss batted .429, the second highest total in program history, while finishing with school records of 72 hits and 22 doubles. She tied for the team lead with seven home runs, while finishing with a team-best 33 runs batted in. She also finished with 37 runs scored. She was named first-team All-MAC, Academic All-District and NFCA First-Team All-Region this season as well.
Koch played in 36 games for the Bulls, starting 26 of those contests. She batted .209 with 14 hits, a double and six runs batted in. Koch drove in a pair of runs against Alabama State and Kennesaw State, while also driving in runs against Bryant and Canisius.
The Academic All-MAC honor is for a student-athlete who has excelled in athletics and academics. To qualify, a student-athlete must have at least a 3.20 cumulative GPA and have participated in at least 50 percent of the contests for that particular sport.
