
Alexis Curtiss Named Academic All-District

BUFFALO, NY – Senior Alexis Curtiss has been named to the Capital One Academic All-District I Softball Team, it was announced on Thursday afternoon. The teams were selected by the College Sports Information Directors of America.
Curtiss, who was named to the All-MAC First Team on Tuesday for the second time in her career, had the best season of her career in 2015 as she led the Bulls with a .429 batting average, good for second in the Mid-American Conference. Curtiss leads the MAC with 22 doubles on the season, good for top five nationally in doubles per game. Curtiss set single-season school record for hits (72) and doubles (22), while also setting the career school records in both categories, breaking the all-time hits record in her final at bat on Sunday afternoon. Curtis played in all 50 games for the Bulls this season, seeing time behind the plate, at third base and at second base. She recorded at least one hit in 38 of 50 games this season and ended the year with at least one hit in 14 of the final 15 games of the year.
First-team Academic All-District ® honorees advance to the Capital One Academic All-America® Team ballot, where first-, second- and third-team All-America honorees will be selected later this month.
To be eligible for Academic All-America® consideration, a student-athlete must be a varsity starter or key reserve, maintain a cumulative G.P.A. of 3.30 on a scale of 4.00, have reached sophomore athletic and academic standings at his/her current institution and be nominated by his/her sports information director. Since the program's inception in 1952, CoSIDA has bestowed Academic All-America honors on more than 20,000 student-athletes in Divisions I, II, III and NAIA, covering all NCAA championship sports.
