KALAMAZOO, MI – The University at Buffalo, The State University of New York baseball team (11-24, 5-12 MAC) dropped their fifth straight game on Saturday afternoon on the road at Western Michigan, 7-1. The Bulls offense was only able to produce four hits in the loss.

The Bulls jumped out to the early 1-0 lead in the first inning as Ben Haefner ignited the offense with a single up the middle. Bobby Sheppard then walked and Charlie Sobieraski singled through the left side of the infield to load the bases with only one out. Freshman Ben Vey then dug in and produced the lone run of the afternoon for the Bulls with a sacrifice fly to right field, scoring Haefner from third. The run for Haefner was his 12^th of the season while it was Vey's 12^th RBI.

The Broncos responded in the bottom of the first inning with three runs of their own to take control of the game. UB starter Anthony Magovney struggled early on and was only able to make it into the second inning before getting pulled in favor of Alec Tuohy. Western Michigan scored two more runs in the second inning, making it 5-1, to chase Magovney from the mound.

Western Michigan was able to notch runs in the fifth and sixth inning as they crusied to a 7-1 victory after a great pitching performance from Chad Mayle who pitched 7.1 innings and allowed just three hits and one run.

Although he did not collect a hit, Nick Sinay earned a walk in the fifth inning and extended his team-high reaching base streak to 22 games. Vinny Mallaro and Mitchell Machi were the only other Bulls to collect hits as they both finished the game going 1-for-4. Tuohy finished off his afternoon pitching 4.2 innings while allowing six hits and freshman Logan Harasta pitched two scoreless innings in relief.

The two squads will return to the diamond on Sunday at 1:00 pm in the series finale. Senior Mike McGee will take the mound for UB.
