DETROIT, MI – The University at Buffalo, The State University of New York, softball team continued a busy stretch of games on Thursday as they travelled to Detroit just one day after their home-opening doubleheader, but fell to the host Titans, 6-4.

The Bulls started the game strong, but were hurt by five fielding errors on the afternoon. Senior Alexis Curtiss opened the game with a leadoff home run to left field, giving the Bulls a 1-0 lead, but a two-out error in the bottom of the first gave the Titans a run back to tie up the contest.

Detroit scored two runs in the bottom of the second, including one on an error and added three more in the bottom of the fifth, which were all unearned as the Titans took a 6-1 lead. UB scored three back in the top of the sixth as sophomore Ashton Earnhardt hit a sacrifice fly, which scored freshman Leandra Jew and then sophomore Savanna Norcio hit her second career home run, a two-run shot to left center, which put the Bulls down just 6-4. UB had a one-out base runner in the seventh, but couldn't score.

"I am proud of Lex for trying to set the tone with a first pitch bomb and for Savanna for hitting her first home run this year," said head coach Trena Peel. "Hayley drove the ball hard every at bat but couldn't find a hole. With all that being said, I'm very disappointed because I feel like we gave the game away on defense today. It's very hard to beat anyone with five errors."

Hayley Barrow picked up the loss as she allowed six hits and six runs, but just one of those was earned. Curtiss went 2-for-3 from the plate, while Norcio went 1-for-2 with a walk and the two-run home run.

The Bulls will move on Ypsilanti, MI tomorrow for a doubleheader with Eastern Michigan beginning at 1:00 pm.
