Bulls Upend Eastern Michigan 5-2, Pick Up First MAC Victory of 2015

BUFFALO, NY – The University at Buffalo, State University of New York women's tennis team secured a key 5-2 Mid-American Conference victory over Eastern Michigan Sunday at Miller Tennis Center.
The Bulls (5-7, 1-1 MAC) opened the match claiming the doubles point. UB won at second and third doubles and retired the first doubles match before taking four of the singles matches from the Eagles (5-10, 1-1 MAC).
Senior Laura Fernandez and sophomore Laura Holterbosch won the day's first match defeating the Eagles 6-2 at second doubles. Freshmen Christine Haraldson and Tanja Stojanovska won the third doubles match in 6-3 fashion to suspend the top match in the Bulls' favor, 5-4.
Stojanovska won at second singles, 6-1, 6-2, defeating Ani Gogvadze, while Fernandez blanked Daphne Friedrichs, 6-2, 6-3, at the third spot. Holterbosch was victorious at fifth singles defeating Maria Paula Ribero, 6-4, 6-3. Haraldson picked up a win at the sixth position with a 6-4, 6-2 showing against Alejandra Barcelo Almoyna.
The Bulls will next host Miami (OH) at 1 pm Friday.
