UB Women's Tennis Drops 5-2 Match to Toledo in MAC Opener

TOLEDO, OH – The University at Buffalo, State University of New York women's tennis team played its Mid-American Conference opener Friday at Toledo. The Rockets (10-5, 1-0 MAC), who have won four of their last five, picked up a 5-2 victory over the Bulls (4-7, 0-1 MAC).
UB narrowly dropped the doubles point before picking up a pair of singles victories. Sophomore Margarita Kotok and junior Dayana Agasieva defeated the Rockets' top doubles pair, 6-3. Freshmen Tanja Stojanovska and Christine Haraldson put up a fight at third doubles, but were edged, 7-6.
Stojanovska won her second singles match over Lexy Pitt, defeating the Rocket 7-6, 6-2 and sophomore Laura Holterbosch posted a 7-5, 4-6, 6-3 fifth singles victory over Mackenzie Bowman. Kotok went three at first singles, as did senior Laura Fernandez at the four spot, both suffering setbacks to Toledo.
UB will host Eastern Michigan Sunday at 1 pm.
