
Singles Play Powers UB Men's Tennis Past Monmouth, 4-1

PRINCETON, NJ – The University at Buffalo, State University of New York men's tennis team won its fourth straight match Saturday defeating Monmouth, 4-1, at Princeton.
The Hawks (4-3) picked up the doubles point winning at first and third, before the Bulls (8-3) claimed four straight singles wins to end the match.
UB's second doubles duo of senior Damien David and junior Akhil Mehta played to a 6-1 victory over the Hawks.
The Bulls won second, third, fifth and sixth singles to claim the victory before the first and fourth matches concluded. Junior Pablo Alvarez defeated Przemyslaw Filipek, 6-3, 6-3, and senior Sebastion Ionescu blanked Ale Gomez Estrada, 6-1, 6-3. Sophomore Jonathan Hannestad was victorious over Bee Kumthonkittikul, 6-0, 6-4, while Mehta played to a 6-1, 6-4 victory against Christian Vieira.
The Bulls will take on the 23rd-ranked Tigers Sunday at 10 am.
