
UB Men's Tennis Overpowers Niagara, 6-1

BUFFALO, NY – The University at Buffalo, State University of New York men's tennis team dominated local opponent Niagara, 6-1, Friday evening at the Miller Tennis Center.
The Bulls (6-3) have won five of their last six matches and improved to 99-3-1 all-time against Niagara (2-3) dating back to 1940.
UB opened the match with a sweep in doubles play. The first doubles duo of sophomore Jonathan Hannestad and junior Sergio Arevalillo picked up a 6-4 victory. At the number two spot, senior Damien David and redshirt-sophomore Tony Miller outlasted the Purple Eagles, 7-5, while at third doubles junior Akhil Mehta and rookie Noah Hajdu-Andersson blanked Niagara, 6-1.
Senior Sebastian Ionescu defeated Michael Elortegui in straight sets, 6-2, 6-2, at second doubles. At the fourth position, junior Amar Hromic edged David Raymond, 7-6, 4-6, 10-5. The Bulls dominated fifth and sixth singles with Mehta upending Francis Nadeau, 6-1, 6-1, and Miller claiming a 6-0, 6-4 win over Rares Ispas.
David's top singles match was retired due to a Niagara injury, while Hannestad suffered a three-set 3-6, 6-3, 6-3 loss at fourth singles to David Raymond.
The Bulls return to action on Saturday hosting Youngstown State at 1 pm.
