
Bulls Earn Exhibition Win over Clarion

BUFFALO, NY – Four players scored in double-figures to lead the University at Buffalo, The State University of New York women's basketball to a 92-62 exhibition win over Clarion at Alumni Arena on Tuesday night.
Joanna Smith led the way with 20 points on 8-of-12 shooting and had four three-pointers to lead all scorers. Freshman forward Brittany Morrison made a nice debut with 17 points and a game-high nine rebounds. Fellow freshman Gabi Bade added 13 points, including a pair of three-pointers. Katherine Ups had 10 points, while her twin sister, Liisa, posted eight.
The Bulls dominated the boards, outrebounding the Eagles, 50-34. All 13 UB players recorded at least one rebound. The Bulls were relentless at the defensive end of the floor with 12 steals and forced 18 turnovers. UB held Clarion to just 18-of-60 shooting from the field (30%). Smith, Stephanie Reid and Karin Moss each had three steals in the game.
"I really liked the cohesion we showed out there and I think our captains did a great job of pulling this young team together," head coach Felisha Legette-Jack said. "I thought Stephanie Reid did a fantastic job making sure everyone knew what was going on even when she was on the sidelines. We really played unselfish basketball and if we can maintain and sustain that, I think it will be a fun year for us."
The Bulls will play another exhibition game against Daemen on Saturday afternoon at Alumni Arena.
