BOSTON, MA - The UB men's and women's cross country teams ran at NCAA Northeast Regionals. This year's event was held at historic Franklin Park in Boston, Massachusetts. Both teams were looking to end their seasons on a high note and build upon their finishes at the MAC Championship two weeks ago where the women finished fifith and the men finished sixth. The women's race was a 6 k race, while the men's race was a 10 k race, which is the first 10 k race of the year.
For the third time in program history, the women's team placed 15th overall. Previously, they finished 15th overall at the Northeast Regionals in 2006 and 2012. The team's best result at this race occured in 2004 when they finished ninth overall.
Kemp finished with a time 31:27.9 in the 10 k race to find himself with a top-30 placement. Amy Shaw led the way for the Bulls with a 34th place finish, respectively. Shaw raced in a time of 21:39.6 and finished only 13 seconds from a top-25 finish. Shaw's performance was the third-best finish in program history; Jenny Koeppel finished ninth in 2004, and Mary Veeith finished 18th in 2006.
In addition to Shaw, Melinda Wheeler and Chardae Henry finished in the top 100 with times of 22:22.9 and 22:34.7, respectively. Corinne Birchard and Meagan Hopkins added to the team's scoring by finishing in 130th and 154th place.
