
UB Women's Cross Country Races into USTFCCCA Regional Rankings

NEW ORLEANS, La. – The University at Buffalo women's cross country team ranks 14th in week two of the United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association Northeast Region poll announced Monday.
The Bulls, who returned to the regional rankings for the first time since 2012, raced to a sixth-place finish out of 20 teams Saturday at Iona's Meet of Champions. UB finished ahead of Albany who has since dropped from 13th to 15th in the Northeast standings.
In the women's first 6K race of the season, sophomores Melinda Wheeler and Corinne Birchard finished consecutively in 30th and 31st out of 164 runners to lead the Bulls. Wheeler clocked a 23:24.70 finish and Birchard followed in 23:31.20.
The Bulls next race on Saturday, Oct. 4 at the Paul Short Invitational hosted by Lehigh.
